The Simple Times: Vintage Tech Ads
When I was a Freshmen, my parents got me a 486 Pentium computer and if you wanted to make it go faster, all you had to do was push a button labeled “Turbo” on the tower. These ads remind me of how far we have come.
Sex Sells
I came across all these that made me laugh and thought I should share them. Anyone can get nude and stand next to a product, but there’s more to that then just a pretty face and a great body. It doesn’t take a genius to know that sex sells and it’s the preferred method because it gets us hot and bothered. When we’re deciding over which brand to buy, our natural reaction is to remember the steamy commercial we saw and want to associate ourselves with it. That’s why they only put hot people next to whatever is that they’re advertising. We just have lots of sex on our minds.
Sexy Gadget Ad Submission
I sent my ad submission for Gizmodo’s Sexy Gadgets Ads Contest. They want you to create an ad that is gadget related and sex it up. This one was tough cause it was hard to make something tasteful yet sexy and with nerd gear. I’m sure there’s going to be tons of Wii remote spoofs so I didn’t go that route.
If you ask me, old Jenna was so hot.
King of the Fighters XII’s Quick Review
King of the Fighters 12 is out and it’s great to see these characters pumped up with hand drawn high res goodness. Although some moves are missing from the characters, it still has the SNK’s 4 button song and dance. Most of the character’s signature moves are there. You’ll notice Lori’s moves have been stripped to claw attacks. He seems really effective up close. There’s a guard breaker that I find useful during the match as well. The combo connectivity seems a little slower due to the animation frame rate. The combo rhythm is slower but you get use to it and you’re able to achieve some sick combos once you get started. Overall, the game is a keeper for any fighting fan.
It looks as though Mai might be a download-able character. People are whining about her not being in the roster. Lets keep those fingers crossed.
The command list is located in the pause menu in the 2 player versus mode. For some reason it’s not in the training mode which is strange.

Castlevania Inspired Monster Color Sketch
I’ve been playing the Castlevania series again and wanted to create monsters inspired by the game. I’m also excited to see the new one. Kojima is involved with the project and you can’t go wrong when somebody’s baby is Metal Gear. So far the game is starting to have a hint of GOW’s fighting mechanics.
My personal favorites till this day were the ones on the GBA. Combining RPG elements into game was mind blowing for me. Each game has it’s distinct feel to it yet the gameplay was all there.
Sketch of a Jet
The update to Doodledroid is pretty sweet. Now you can use fill, adjust the eraser, and smear. I like how the UI is intuitive and really simple to use. Clicking on a menu button takes you to submenu filled with options.
Gizmodo’s Impractical Gadgets Contest
Gizmodo is having a contest where you make an existing device useless in Photoshop. This was my first attempt but I had to explain the piece to someone. It’s not a good design when the picture can’t speak for itself.
This is the one I’m using to enter next Tuesday. There’s no such thing as too many screens.
